Map Your Magna Neighbors

Looking up Magna neighbors starts with the block, not a name list. County GIS can show adjoining parcels and the Assessor can provide published property context. Voter records have selected public fields and strong privacy limits. City staff, service pages, and historical street guides explain who handles a local question or who appeared at an address in an earlier era. A responsible Magna neighbor search keeps owner, occupant, voter, business, and historical householder labels separate, then checks the official custodian before relying on any result.

What Magna Neighbor Records Show

A block lookup can map nearby parcels and published owners, identify a service or public office contact, or locate dated household entries in a historical directory. It cannot reveal every person in each home. The Salt Lake County Parcel Viewer supports adjacent selection and buffers. The Assessor describes property data. Utah’s voter system is bounded by public-field and at-risk rules. Historical criss-cross directories are useful for past households, not current occupancy.

An owner name is a property connection. A mailing address may be different from the site address. A voter record is a registration connection, and a directory entry is tied to its publication year. Those differences matter when deciding who your neighbors are. The safest output is a map and a list of record labels, not a public claim about current occupants.

Magna GIS Tools for Nearby Parcels

Parcel Viewer offers Find Parcel Number, Owner, and Address entry, then lets a researcher select a parcel from the map. A line or polygon can identify multiple parcels. A point or parcel can be buffered by a distance in feet. Street, aerial, and topographic layers, 2012–2014 historic imagery, and several export formats help record the shape of a block without publishing a private person as an example.

The viewer’s first-1,000-result limit and one-time-capture disclaimer matter when the search area grows. County GIS says parcel information is supplied by the Recorder. Utah’s statewide parcel layer is a snapshot with different update dates, so county sources are the better route for current parcel details.

The Salt Lake County Parcel Viewer is the official map starting point.

Magna neighbors city staff and service directory

The official staff directory adds a useful human layer by showing which city contact handles GIS, planning, code, building, licensing, court, or contracted services.

Mapping a Magna Block

Start from one address, confirm the parcel, and walk outward only as far as the question needs. A map can show which lots touch or sit near the starting parcel. The Assessor can then provide a published property result for each selected parcel. The Recorder can add a document trail when ownership history matters.

  1. Locate the address in Salt Lake County Parcel Viewer and save the parcel identifier and map position.
  2. Select each nearby parcel and record its property location and published owner fields separately.
  3. Compare site and mailing address information without assuming the owner occupies the property.
  4. Use the Recorder for a deed or plat reference, and keep map context separate from a household claim.

For a complete named-street sequence, move to the Magna street directory workflow rather than expanding a block map into an unsupported people list.

Which Office Serves a Magna Address

A neighbor question can fail because the wrong custodian is searched. Magna’s services page routes fire through UFSA, police through UPD, water and sewer through Magna Water District, waste through WFWRD, and planning, building, licensing, code, engineering, and economic development through the Greater Salt Lake Municipal Services District. Salt Lake County Public Works handles listed street and snow work, while county Animal Services handles animal services.

Use the city staff directory for the published clerk/recorder, GIS, planning, code, building, licensing, court, and contracted-service contacts. The city’s code coverage distinguishes Old Town Magna from the area east of 8400 West. That is an operational clue, not proof of a formal historical neighborhood line. Check current MSD Address Lookup for jurisdiction.

The Magna services page is the routing map when a block record is held outside the city.

Voter Privacy Around the Block

Utah voter records can expose selected public fields such as name, physical and mailing addresses, age range, party affiliation, and vote history. They do not publicly share DOB, driver-license or state-ID number, Social Security number, email, or phone. The person and address search forms are not a guaranteed list of every voter at a Magna address.

At-Risk classification can protect victims or threatened people, qualifying co-residents, law enforcement, people covered by protection orders, armed forces members, and public figures. Voter records are retained permanently under State Archives Series 28818, but public visibility and access are still controlled by the state rules. Do not use a registration result to label a whole block.

Community Contacts, Not Household Lists

The research did not locate an official Magna HOA or neighborhood-household directory. Safer community layers include the Magna City Council and Agenda Center, the Magna staff directory, the Salt Lake County Library branch, ChamberWest, Pleasant Green Cemetery, and the schools and civic institutions named in the city history. Those sources can identify public contacts, organizations, meetings, or local history without exposing a private block roster.

ChamberWest is described by the city as serving about 5,000 businesses across Magna, West Valley City, West Jordan, Taylorsville, and Kearns. That regional scope makes it useful for organization context, but it does not prove that a listed business is on a particular residential block or that a principal lives nearby.

When the question concerns a public project, meeting, service boundary, or agency-held record rather than a household, use the custodian’s public-information route. Salt Lake County’s GRAMA guidance describes a response target of ten business days for ordinary requests and five business days for media requests. The first 30 minutes of staff time are free; later staff time, actual copying or media costs, and specialized work may be chargeable. A narrow request for one Magna address, parcel, meeting date, or project file is easier to evaluate than a request for every resident on a block.

Magna’s Agenda Center can establish when a public body discussed a street, project, appointment, or neighborhood concern, but an agenda or minutes entry is not a resident directory. Save the meeting date, agenda title, and issuing body. Then follow the listed office for the underlying record. This keeps a civic connection separate from a claim that a named person lives near the meeting topic.

Historical neighborhood names also need a date. Magna’s history mentions Greektown, Japantown, Snaketown, Little Italy, and Ragtown alongside Pleasant Green. These labels can help locate a newspaper, map, directory, or photograph, but they are not current block boundaries or membership rolls. Use them as search terms, cite the historical source, and let the parcel or civic record establish the present geography.

Privacy Limits on Magna Neighbors

Renters and household members are not indexed as a public block list. Utility and delivery data is not public, DMV address data is restricted, and protected residents may be shielded by Utah Safe at Home or voter withholding. A missing person from a map or search cannot be read as proof of absence.

Lawful use. Magna neighbor research is for understanding a block, reconnecting, civic awareness, and personal safety. Never use a record to watch, stalk, harass, intimidate, or harm anyone.
